Kindergarten!

Hey all! Well, school officially started today with Kindergarten orientation! I met my students and they seem nice and excited to be in school. The parents were great too. As with any group of students I can foresee some issues that will need some dealing with, but I am excited to start the year. Tomorrow the kiddos are there all day with us for the first time! Wish me well - and if you have a little one (or growing one) starting back, support your teachers!

Pictures ~ FINALLY

Hi all! I wanted to share a few pictures from my trip with my mom to the Quilt Odyssey at the Hershey Convention Center. The pictures are scanned so they might not be the best quality. This was her birthday present from me. It's so hard to shop for her since she buys everything she wants. I figured this would be a neat surprise and chance to get away! We took a class on paper piecing a Compass Star with Carol Doak. Here's a picture of mom and I sewing.
Here's a pic of us with her (her being Carol Doak) and our blocks. I only got 1/2 done (green and brown) and even though I had to straighten out mom on the how to's (she even had to start over once) she got her whole block (black and pastels) done because she's such a fast sewer!
We weren't the only mother daughter pair there. I was definitely the youngest, but not the least experienced...I had to actually get my mom back on track a few times...the actual quilt show was pretty impressive. We took a lot of pictures of interesting quilts. Check this one out, it's one of my favorites...can you guess why?
It says: "Yesterday I was a dog. Today I am a dog. Tomorrow I'll probably still be a dog. Sigh. There's so little hope for advancement."

We had a nice mother daughter weekend and went shopping in Lancaster too! This is a picture of the sign for probably the biggest fabric shop around...it's a bolt of fabric, cute huh? One last pic before leaving the show...
That's all for today...it may be a little while till I post again. I have 3 days (starting tomorrow) to get a classroom ready for next week!
Where's your babble? Post it!

Everybody's Workin for the Weekend!

Yeah! It's finally Friday! I am so excited, tomorrow I am going to the Grove City Outlets with Amanda to go shopping...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! I will be the big 27 tomorrow...wow I am getting old! The guys will be at BeaveRun racing Saturday and Sunday, so Amanda and I decided what a great day to shop till we drop! I love those outlets, I always find great buys and I really need some new clothes for fall (for teaching those Kindergarteners!).

What are YOU doing this weekend? Post a comment and let me know, most importantly ~~ Have a fun weekend!

Back to Kindergarten

Well, looks like I'll be back in the Kindergarten saddle at least to start the school year. Conemaugh Township called today and asked if I was interested in a long-term sub position in Kdg. for a few weeks. The length is TBA due to the teacher's recovery from surgery. I met with the principal today and he is very nice. I even ran into an old friend, and cheering coach, who teaches there which was very comforting to me! I get the final approval next Tuesday evening and then from Wednesday on life is crazy! School starts Monday, August 25th with teacher inservices on the 25th and 26th. Kindergarten orientation is Wednesday, August 27th and then Thursday, August 28th starts the full day for those little kiddos. Keep prayin' for me (not to go crazy now...lol).

Daily Inspiration

Something for you to think about...

"You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future."

This has helped me realize "it is what it is" and I am done looking back, I'm living for now, and simply hoping for a better future...

Good Day Ladies

Hey all! Just wanted to post a little note about how disappointed I am in those Bedford Girls (especially Tracy). Moan and groan and complain about not updating the blog and then when they know it's updated they don't even check it out. Very disappointing girls (Tracy)....

Now I would like to share some pictures from my friend Jess's bachelorette party...it was a western theme inspired by this photo...
We made a day of it and got manis and pedis at Luu Nails...here we are getting pampered...don't you love the cowgirl hats? That's Jess on the left...Me in the middle...and Amanda on the right... These are the rest of the girls...Monica on the left (we call her Pooky)...Molly in the middle (Looky)...and Kelly on the right (this is Bracken's sister)...They were reluctant about the hats at first but then they grew on them...After the manis and pedis we went to dinner at Lonestar (how fitting) it is Jess's favorite! Then back to my house for an adult at home party (know what I'm sayin'?)...Amanda and I came up with 2 games to play too, great prizes Amanda...we had such a good time "Getting Our Cowgirl On" that we even broke the hats out at the wedding! Jess was NA! **Next quiz...what does NA mean?**

Moving on...I have the day off today and am excited to go have lunch with my mom and my nephew Bode...we're going to have porkettes, mmmmmmm my favorite!

That's all for today...where's your babble? Post it!

Back on the Air with Becky Babbles...

Hey all! It's official, I have time to be back at the blog! There is so much to catch you up on, but I don't want to overwhelm you all in one night. Over the next stint of time I will be posting about my best friend Jessica's wedding (July 25th), my trip to Hershey Lodge and Convention Center with my mom (July 26th and 27th), my new Uppercase Living business (project ideas), an upcoming trip to visit friends in Mechanicsburg (August 2nd), a little grad school dirt (just for you Tracy), and I'm even bringing back the "I Spy" game!

I will also be commenting on past blog posts, discussions, and emails from you lively Bedford girls. Tracy, I would like the recipe for your appetizer "Wind Whipped Wings" that you shared at Barbs! I came across this recipe, let me know if it's close to yours...check it out!

Well, let's start with the fact that I still do not have a job so don't quit praying yet! Enough of that depressing stuff, looking into the future....here's a picture of us at Jess's wedding...what a beautiful group of bridesmaids!
I guess I should post a picture of the bride since it was her day! The wedding and ceremony were at the Somerset Country Club (this should explain the golfer in the background). I have limited pics, am getting more from others...my camera was broke! POS! ** Here's your first game...if you know what POS means, send me an email at mrs.conn2@yahoo.com **
That's enough for tonight, I have to keep you on your toes to make sure I am not back to doing all this work for nothing! Keep your babble (comments) coming and be sure to check back often for games and prizes!

Ahhhhh, it feels good to be back!

Congrats, Fun, Party, Bag Whore!

Hi all! Now that I caught your attention with my title...I have some news to report on my weekend...First, I want to congratulate Tracy for being the winner of the "I Spy" last week! It was a tree that we cut down about 2 weeks ago and it was a close up of the stump. The tree was 52 inches at the base! It was huge...check out this picture of it!
The tree right beside the garage (to the Right) is the one we cut, and that's my dad cutting away at it...here's a close up of him and the wedge they had to make to get it started... For some more size perspective...here's Dan's dad standing on the stump...
Here's a better shot of the stump...
After the tree was down there was a lot of cutting to do, look at my sweetie!

CONGRATULATIONS TRACY! email me your address to mrs.conn2@yahoo.com so I can send your TAC prize!

Yesterday I helped Barb at the CTC picnic and had a blast...check out this photo...it's our friend Matt pictured with us and we think he's the prettiest one in the photo!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Hey all, just a little update since I got back yesterday. Mom and I had a GREAT time in Atlantic City! We had dinner with some relatives that live nearby, did a little gambling, and did A LOT of shopping! We walked and shopped the boardwalk and then the outlets that were 2 blocks away. Due to all the walking, Mom's knee was pretty swollen and sore but she was a trooper! I got a ton of loot! We even got to go on the beach Sunday evening. Mom put her feet in the water but I wouldn't cuz it was too cold and I didn't want dirty feet. Of all the gambling we did I was up $85 and mom was up $20. We got a ton of great pictures to scrap and add to our "Mother Daughter Trips" album. I'll post a pic or two tomorrow along with a new "I Spy" picture.

Tomorrow is D-Day, meaning that if I get a call from Forest Hills I will be a RANGER...if no call then the job search continues.............................keep your fingers crossed for me and I'll keep you all posted!

Congrats again Christina! Another chance to win is coming up this week, check the blog often!Keep the babble comin'....

G'nite,

We have a WINNER!

Hi all! Well, the verdict is in and there were 4 guesses submitted to my email and they were all on the right track. The "I Spy" picture from yesterday did have a snake in it...well, parts of a snake...Dan hates them so he cut it up and that picture was of the pieces...check this one out...
That's a close up of his head. Anyhow, I placed the 4 names of my guessers in a hat and Dh picked a winner (so don't yell at me if it's not you!)...the winner is...............(drumroll)....................CHRISTINA! Congrats Christina! Email me your mailing address to mrs.conn2@yahoo.com and when I get back from Atlantic City I will mail you your TAC prize.

Don't forget that Kathy's party is coming up at the end of the month and if you all love TAC products, we could get a monthly club together to build our stash. Thanks for playing and there will be another "I Spy" picture next week (after Atlantic City) regarding what DH and I did today...it's a doozee!

G'nite,
Becky

Also, I am going to see how smart you all are...take a look at this picture...what do you see? Submit your guesses to my email mrs.conn2@yahoo.com or post a comment. I will post the answer, with another picture, tomorrow night at about this time. Everyone who guessed right will be entered into a drawing for a special prize from, you guessed it, The Angel Company! I figure I have to do something to keep you coming back for more of my babble. Submit your guesses now!

Still keep your fingers crossed for me that I get my job! They will either call me Wednesday to say I have a job or else I'll get a letter in the mail a day or so later...pray for the call and a permanent position (preferably first grade)!

What a Beautiful Day!

Hi all! I know it's been a few days since my last post, but DH and I (and the in-laws) have been busy bees outside in the yard! We have some pesky lil (GINORMUS) rocks that we are trying to get rid of so our yard looks like a nice, level yard that is easily mowed. Aside from that we are also moving trees, shrubs, plants, etc. (to my liking). Here's a picture of Dan on the tractor/back ho doing what he does best -- making a mess!

I have also been trying my green thumb on some posies around the house. Here's one of my hanging baskets.

In one of my baskets I have a new friend, a bird friend, her name is Bella...Bella has 3 robin eggs in her nest in my brand new basket! Every time we go on the porch she flies away. Yesterday between working and eating outside, we weren't sure if she was going to come back or not. It must have been late last night or this morning but she's back and we are glad for her babies sake. Here's a picture of our newest neighbor -- Bella.

There are also tons of flowers blooming around the yard. The people that lived here before had a small fortune in plants! They are just so sparatically placed that we are just trying to get them in some sort of order (flower beds, etc.). I will be posting more pics of our yard in bloom in the days to come...right now we have beautiful dark purple iris's starting to open up! I can't wait to share!

Have a Happy Memorial Day and enjoy the beautiful weather before it rains!

Later,

Becky

new TAC goodies...eye candy...mmm mmm

Hey all...sorry it's been a bit since my last post, but guess what?!?!?!? That's right! No more class until July! Woo Hoo! Our professor loved our final presentation and actually asked us to present it to his future classes (ya, we're good...lol), what an honor!

So, I went to Kathy's (Bag Ho Bedford Girl's) house tonight to pick up my new TAC goodies I ordered with her order...I love them...a bunch of neat embellishments to try out, some Bazzil paper (we sell monochromatic paper packs) and my new toy....a SCOR-PAL! I can't wait to try it out!

The embellishments are buttons, brads, and staples (in black/metal colors for Dan's motorcycle scrapbook), yellow paper posies, red scrappers floss (one of my new faves!), and some white and brown liquid applique.

I saw a post from one of my web Angels about how you can make a card textured like suede using the liquid applique so I am gonna test it out for a card for Kathy's party. I am going to make a few samples and let her pick which one she'd like to do for her party. It's the last Sunday in June for those of you that know you'll be invited!

Hopefully I'll have a chance to play with my new goodies this week sometime...I'll keep you posted and post what I come up with. Gotta go check Barb's blog for her Make and Take Monday project...

G'nite girls!

SCS - ATC - MFT - BELLA - TAC

Hey all! Just a quick post tonight -- I have to finish my paper for my last CLASS! Not sure if you are all familiar with Splitcoast Stampers, but it is one of my favorite sites! There are tutorials, contests, forums, classifieds, and swaps (MY FAVE!). My DH yells at me for being on there so much, I tell him it's my 'online scrapbooking family'. One of my dear friends, Paula (aka scrapbratmother on SCS) is hosting a cute ATC swap. An ATC is an 'artist trading card' for those of you who don't know. Her swap is with MFT (My Favorite Things) and Bella stamps. After this class I plan to do a similar swap but with (drum roll.....) THE ANGEL COMPANY stamps! Yeah! Paula is such a creative lady check out her swap and her gallery on SCS, it's free to join and post! Here's a link to her swap...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347916.
Have a nice night girls!

Dreams really do come true...

Hey all! Just a quick post tonight as I will be busy with the last project of my CLASS this week...another presentation and paper, what fun! Anyhow, last week my friend Jessica and I got a little crafty creating invitations for her bridal shower. We needed it to be simple and quick since it's fast approaching. So, we based the idea off of my wedding shower invite and just tweaked it a bit. Here's the picture...

At the bottom of the vellum, under the invite info it says "Dreams Really Do Come True", Disney's theme...it seemed appropriate!...Under the vellum is a picture of her fiance actually proposing to her infront of the castle at Magic Kingdom! Talk about a priceless picture...look...

They were getting ready to take a pic, so family members had their cameras out and ready to go, but little to anyone's knowledge he got down on his knee and popped the question! How sweet. I just wanted to share our little creation. The shower is June 14th so I won't be able to attend the Carding Bee...what a bummer! I'll try to post Thursday or Friday, if not maybe Sunday...until then, keep the babble coming and g'nite girls!

P.S. Sorry if the pictures seem dark, I wasn't in a well lit room when I took them.

Just Chicken Up...

Hey girls! Just a quick post tonight. I got together with some girlfriends and we had dinner at Chili's tonight, it was fun! Anyhow, I got to thinking about one of my dear friends from UPJ that I student taught with. I haven't talked to her in awhile so I decided that I was going to send her a card. Recently I took a day and stamped a bunch of images and had this card partially made, so I just watercolored it and sent it on its merry little way!

I love this ribbon...dollar spot at Michael's!

These are My Favorite Things Stamps -- Punny Farm set...I know I know, it's not TAC but what can I say I love them all! Along the side of the card I stamped "Cluck" a few times in yellow on yellow. The inside of the card says "Just Chicken Up on You" with a few more chickens and "Clucks" -- how cute! I also stamped a little chick on the back and it says "peep" where you would put your "Made By" stamp & signature. I hope she likes it!

That's all for tonight...off to work on some, you guessed it, CLASS WORK! Only one more class to go then a break until July!
G'nite Ladies,
Becky

I love TAC!

Hey girls! I have been crafty tonight! As many of you know, today was Teacher Appreciation Day. At school, some classes were given the assignment to select teachers that have impacted their lives. I was shocked and excited to receive 4 letters from students. I really didn't expect any since I am just a sub but that makes them even more special. The one letter actually made me tear up it was so nice. My point is that I decided to make those girls feel special like they did for me, so I made them these fabulous cards! Check them out!

I had to carefully select the stamps so that they didn't think I was an old lady, I just love these shoe stamps from TAC! The set is called Kallioppe. The pattern paper is from the Sands of Time paper pack too!

Here's a close up of my 2 favorites! On the outside front it says "Those shoes make you look so skinny!" Too cute!

I even made coordinating envelopes! The inside of the card has a sentiment that says "You only live once but if you do it right once is enough."

I hope they enjoy these little cards as much as I enjoyed their letters! Happy Teacher Appreciation Day everyone! Keep the babble coming!

I have company...

Hi girls! It's good to see that I have company and you are actually reading this babble...lol...I was really motivated to get a card made for one of my many pregnant friends tonight, but I have the worst headache...I was outside helping DH rake our leaves...it's never-ending, it's seriously ridiculous! I hope to get those cards made tomorrow...I got the cutest pregnancy stamp set, check it out

My mom got it for me from Michael's I think...she can't wait for me to have a baby...I'm like slow down sister, you have 3 nephews and Cheryl's about ready for #2....I have plenty of time! Hopefully tomorrow I can share a picture of a creation using this cute little stamp set.

Keep the babble coming....

P.S. The shower was small but went well. I can't believe my cousin is having a baby! She's like 5 years younger than me.

Blog Bumm...

Hey all! I know I've been a bit of a blog bum (or who*e) as some of you Bedford girls would say...but I had class 2 weeks in a row and we have to do a presentation each time...this guy is getting old...anyhow...no class for 2 weeks (and only 1 more to go!) so I should be able to get some babbling in.

We are going to my cousin's baby shower today. It should be fun. My aunt called last night and so we (mom, Jen, and I) have to rescue my cousin's shower from disaster...long story but her in-laws are inconsiderate. My aunt lives 800 miles away and simply felt helpless so here are to save the day! LOL

Anyhow, I have nothing fancy or frilly to post like Barb. I didn't do anything scrapbook related for National Scrapbook Day...which was a bummer...I'll try to post SOMETHING fun tonight or tomorrow.

Keep checkin' back and I promise I'll do better! Thanks for looking!

School Scrap...get off my back!

Hi All!
I figured I would make a quick post since there have been some complaints....Bedford Girls....I haven't had any new or exciting scrappin' projects; however, I did make this lovely bulliten board FOR CLASS on Saturday...so consider this my SCHOOL SCRAP! I figured since you are so concerned about my education and 12 trillion degrees I would share with you a bit of what I am doing...

...isn't it PRETTY? My friend Deanna and I have to use it to give a presentation to our class this weekend.

I just watched Grey's Anatomy and WOW I wish it was a never ending movie and I didn't have to wait until Thursday's to watch it...

...any way, off to bed...O' dark thirty comes awful early!

Happy Friday All ~ Enjoy the weekend and the weather!

More to come...

Hi there! Just wanted to try to get in the habit of posted daily (or somewhat regularly) so that my peeps keep coming back for more. I will post some pictures of some of the pages I did at the crop this past weekend tomorrow. The subject was my hubby and his motorcycle racing adventures.......until then, keep the babble coming!

This weekend Barb and I went to a crop at Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center. It was so much fun! I met some wonderful new ladies from Bedford...we laughed, moaned, and sang all weekend long. I didn't get many pages done, a mere six, however; I did complete a little scrapbook project idea that I got from one of my other angel friends. Check out the picture of my "Purse-onality" scrapbook below. It stands on your table, folds flat like a card, and opens to reveal hidden scrapbook pages. I plan to complete this project as a class for some FUNSHOPS and for the Card Making Bee that Missy is planning in June.

That's all for today, have a great Monday!
